This class covers the 2011 6.7 liter PowerStroke engine, which is completely designed and built by
the Ford Motor Company. This engine utilizes many unique new systems including a single sequential
turbocharger, as well as dual EGR coolers, SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction or DEF Injection),
Bosch HPCR (High Pressure Common Rail) fuel injection, Piezo injectors, aluminum cylinder heads, dual cooling
systems, and exhaust aftertreatment system. System operation, component location, service
features, diagnostics, pattern failures and repair are covered in the classroom before heading out to the shop.
Demonstration of the Ford IDS diagnostic software is covered in the shop using a live 6.7 Powerstroke equipped truck! Many cutaway components may be brought to this class, including a complete cutaway engine, cutaway dual impeller turbocharger, cutaway aftertreatment system, cutaway high pressure fuel pump, and cutaway Piezo injector!
